The site is a mere thirty minute drive to Revelstoke Mountain Resort, one of Canada’s top ski resorts. Being so close to the slopes meant that the home would be set up for short term stays, prompting a different creative approach from SMPL.

The home features four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms spread out over twenty-five hundred square feet. In addition to the bedroom spaces, skiers have access to a large two car garage and mudroom space to gear up for a full day on the slopes and ample room to dry out their equipment at the end of the day. Moving upstairs you’ll find the main living space intentionally separated from the ski equipment and a half flight down from the sleeping quarters. The kitchen, dining and living have been amalgamated into one cohesive space to promote time spent together by family and friends. Shared meals in the dining room and games in the living room all happening within the same space.

That isn’t to say that the space compromises on size by any means, the main living area features vaulted ceilings that soar to almost twenty-three feet. Wall-to-wall glass on either side offers three-hundred and sixty degree views of the surrounding mountain range and Upper Arrow Lake. In fact virtually every room in this home features a dramatic  floor to ceiling view, even both bathrooms. This home is very true to its form even at the sacrifice of some privacy.

The plethora of glass creates the perfect backdrop to a visually strong roofline that wraps the home. The white ACM banding beautifully contrasts the reflective nature of the glass especially during the winter season as the home is adorned with massive snow drifts, blending into its environment.
